Why this exists
Every dog owner in Denver has had the same afternoon: you drive twenty minutes to a park you found on a map, and discover the water is off, the small-dog side is a mud pit, or there is nowhere to park. The information existed somewhere — just never in one place, and never in a form you could compare.
Denver Dog Parks is an attempt to fix that. Every off-leash park in Denver, scored the same way on the six things that actually change whether a visit is any good: nearby vets, pet stores, cafes, trails, water access and parking. How we score explains exactly where those numbers come from — including what is still estimated by hand.
Who runs it
Denver Dog Parks is built and maintained by Jorge Villagran, a developer and dog owner in Denver, Colorado. It is a personal project, not a company — there is no team, no investors, and no parent publisher. When something on this site is wrong, one person is responsible for it, and you can reach him at hello@denverdogparks.com.
How it pays for itself
Denver Dog Parks makes money in two ways, and both are visible on the page:
- Display advertising.Ad slots served through Google AdSense, labelled “Ad”. Denver Dog Parks does not choose the individual advertisers.
- Sponsored business listings. Local businesses can sponsor a parkto appear more prominently on that park’s page, on the map, and in the nearby panel. Sponsored placements are always labelled.
What money does not buy
Sponsorship changes placement, never scores.A sponsored park is sorted higher in the default “Featured” order and carries a sponsored badge, but its six scores and its overall number are calculated from the same inputs as every other park. Paying cannot raise a score, and declining to pay cannot lower one. Sort by Score or Rating and sponsorship stops affecting the order at all.
Business listings work the same way: a listing is included because it exists and serves dog owners, not because it paid. Claiming or sponsoring a listing changes how prominent it is, not whether it appears.
Corrections
Park hours, fees and amenities change without notice, and this site will sometimes be out of date. If you find something wrong — a closed park, a fence that came down, a vet that moved — please tell us. Corrections are free, fast, and the single most useful thing you can send.
